The Cloud Computing Big 10!

The Cloud Computing Big 10!

2016 has seen the biggest shake up of the Cloud market since the industry first came to prominence. Acquisitions and NPD projects are too numerous to cover in this article alone and one thing is for sure... 2017 is set to eclipse this all over again! Below is the BIG 10 - a list of top tech titans and rising stars we think deserve recognition for contributions to this global industry...

SAP - with the $8.3bn takeover of Concur in 2014 starting to bear fruit, SAP's 2016 activity included the addition of $125m Big Data experts Altiscale, and with new releases to their SuccessFactors portfolio and a lucrative partnership with Apple to deliver iOS to their enterprise clients, they lead the way for 2017 innovation!

AWS - Amazon Web Services - With a stellar $7.3bn in sales last year, AWS has taken the market by storm and in some quarters, forced the hand of other tech giants such as Microsoft and google to take note and follow suit... Their recent partnership with Ericsson will combine expertise from the network and security offerings of the Swedish powerhouse alongside Amazons expertise in the cloud computing market.

MULESOFT - For those of you outside of the tech bubble, you may not immediately recognise the brand, however Mulesoft's App Integration services are fast becoming a part of all our lives. With lucrative client wins across the Enterprise client space, the likes of Spotify and its 100 million monthly users will be benefiting from streamlined processes and further flexibility to their microservices offering.

HOOTSUITE - Wherever your opinion of social media takes you... people use it! Whether you are a pre or post millennial, how we interact with social media defines our personal and professional presence online. Hootsuite went from start-up to $1bn valuation club in 6 years and the journey doesn't stop there! With 10 million users across 75 countries and new product acquisitions such as mobile sales app Prodigy suggest this "unicorn" is in line for another rocket of a year.

CYLANCE - Fast becoming the bulldozer of the Cloud security industry, Cylance in its short existence has made undeniable changes to a previously static industry. With one of the strongest endpoint security offerings in the market, a charm offensive to the masses looks to be the final part of the puzzle before we are all aware of the brand alongside industry giants such as McAfee and Symantec.

COUPA - This "turbocharged" ERP provider is looking to post another strong set of figures and with the acquisition of web based contract specialists Contractually... Coupa look to be heading further into the market with a great product stack!

VEEAM - 49% YoY growth in enterprise deals... Let that sink in for a moment, in a highly competitive market, Veeam are making huge steps to the domination of SaaS and Cloud offerings with new product releases VEEAM Agent for Windows and Linux - one to watch!

SAGE - With their X3 offering taking the Enterprise market by storm, the green and white flag is well and truly flying! With optimised services for iOS applications, we expect another year of growth for the ERP and Financial software specialists.

SERVICEMAX - Changing the customer experience of field service technicians, Servicemax made the Forbes cloud 100 this year... expect them to be climbing the ladder once again in 2017!

GOOGLE - Well let's be honest... we would have a riot on our hands if this behemoth didn't make the list. Google a.k.a "the air we breathe" has pushed on yet again with the $635m acquisition of Apigee, further developing its Enterprise strategy and allowing real communication between its cloud platforms and the API development community!
